LEE NICHOLS, P.Eng., P.Geol.
Principal
Mr. Nichols has over 40 years experience in geotechnical engineering, mine and tailings facilities development and design, groundwater and mine dewatering studies, water quality studies, environmental studies, surface hydrology and ore reserve estimates. He has worked on projects in the Athabasca Oil Sands region since 1974.
EMMETT J. HORNE, P. Geol.
Senior Geologist, Principal
Mr. Horne has over 40 years of experience in Geology. His expertise includes ore reserve estimation, core description, mineral property evaluation, grade control, drill program supervision, bulk sampling and pilot testing. He is experienced in placer, gold, platinum and tin mining, ore beneficiation, training of personnel, mine liaison, and applied engineering geology as well as underground mining of gold, copper, lead, zinc, silver and iron ore open pit mining and resource evaluation for taconite and laterite ores.
ANANT PRASAD, P.Eng.
Director of Mining & Safety
Mr. Prasad's 40 years of experience spans both industry and government in senior management positions. He has held positions of responsibility in Mining, Engineering and Operations with Imperial Oil, Kaiser Resources, and Iron Ore Company of Canada, and a number of collieries in the United Kingdom and India. He was the Project Leader for a preliminary mine feasibility study that involved mine layouts, ore and stripping schedules for two bauxite ore bodies in South America. He was also responsible for instituting the Environmental, Health and Safety program within Terracon Geotechnique.
SARAH J. LIST, P.Eng.
General Manager
Responsible for the coordination and supervision of projects, business development, staffing an office of 100 employees, invoicing, and client liaison. She has over 27 years of oil sands experience. Sarah is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing activities for the coordination and supervision of Projects, Business Development, Invoicing and Client Liaison, while also supervising a staff of 140.
MARGARET SMITH, B.Sc.
Project Manager
Margaret (Peggy) Smith
Ms. Smith graduated from the University of Windsor with a major in Geology and has worked in the Athabasca Oil Sands region since 1987. She has experience in core description, generating cross-sections, and geotechnical instrumentation. Peggy is presently Project Manager for one of Terracon's major contracts in the oil sands region.
VASSIL VALCHEV, M.Sc., P. Geol.
Senior Geologist
Mr. Valchev's over 20 years experience in Geology includes the evaluation and coordination of exploration and exploitation opportunities in sedimentary basins, conducting well log and core analysis for generating cross-sections and detailed maps, calculating deposit reserves, performing regional geological mapping and large scale ore reserve evaluation.
PENG (PAUL) XU, M.Sc.
Senior Geoenvironmental Specialist
Mr. Xu has over 20 years experience in geotechnical analysis, design and drilling/logging supervision; Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments; concrete-related engineering materials investigation, design, testing, and construction management and supervision.
ERIN FLEMING,
Environmental Technician
Supervisor of Fort McMurray Office
Erin Fleming is an Environmental Technician. As Supervisor of the Fort McMurray Office, Ms. Fleming is responsible for the supervision of the laboratory group, safety group, fleet services, and administration group. She organizes and performs interviews and administers the interview process for potential candidates and the hiring of new employees. Erin's experience with Terracon since 2000 includes construction, instrumentation, drilling, safety, and various other responsibilities.
JAMES HILTZ
Site Supervisor and QA/QC Specialist
Mr. Hiltz has been a member of ASTT since 1997. He has been employed with Terracon since 2003. Prior to assuming client development responsibilities and becoming Supervisor of Terracon's General Construction Team, Mr. Hiltz was involved with general construction duties and then as a general supervisor for Terracon at two major oil sands sites in Fort McMurray. The Construction Team has tripled recently and continues to grow. Jim is responsible for the development and supervision of Terracon's successful second Soils and Concrete Laboratory. He continues to work on development of new laboratory processes and expansion of Terracon's client base.
JACOB RUBENSTEIN, Civil Technologist
Construction Team Supervisor
Mr. Rubenstein is responsible for the supervision of Terracon's Construction Team, including the Concrete Laboratory. He acts as a liaison between Terracon and multiple Clients. He manages and maintains a demanding, always changing construction schedule. A member of Terracon since 2006, Jake has experience with core, drilling coordination and general construction duties.
